What do shamrocks represent?
A shamrock is a young sprig of clover or, in some cases, the three-leafed clover plant. Most people believe one leaf means hope, two leaves represent faith, and three leaves signify love.
(Some say this only applies to the white-petaled shamrock.)
The number three has always been viewed as mystical and magical, so it’s no wonder that the shamrock is now associated with St. Patrick’s Day!
What do shamrocks look like?
Shamrocks typically grow to about two inches in height but can be higher or lower depending on the variety of clover.
The leaves are normally dark green (although some may be reddish or brown), with three leaflets that form a clover shape.
Shamrocks are most commonly found in grassy fields but can also grow in mountains and rocky areas.
